Bend Brake Options

The Bend Brake process supports the process-level setup options described below.

Define When Gussets Can be Formed

This setup option affects cycle time for the bending operation (see Bending Operation Cycle Time Calculation) which contributes to the overall Bend Brake cycle time.

Define When Gussets Can be Formed Process Setup Option

This specifies when gussets can be created: during the initial bend brake operation (one hit), or after the bend brake operation. Gussets are used to strengthen straight bends.

By default, this is specified by the defaultGussetStrategy cost model variable; this is set to ‘During Bend’ in starting point Digital Factories (that is, all gussets are formed simultaneously during the initial bend brake operation).

With this setup option, users can override the default on a per-part basis. The options are:

  • ‘After Bend - 1 by 1’: each gusset is formed separately after the initial bend brake operation.

  • ‘After Bend - All at once’: all gussets are formed simultaneously after the initial bend brake operation.

  • ‘During Bend’: the default value, as described above.
